Physics Colloquium Winter 2009

March 12, 2009

Tesla Coil Presentation

Presented by: Terry Schalk and Hartmut Sadrozinski
SCIPP, Physics Department, UCSC

The Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics' Outreach Program gets students electrified about learning physics using a Tesla Coil which generates dazzling electrical arcs about 5 feet (1.5 meters) in length. We take this Tesla Coil Demonstration to any school, K-College, that invites us to get the students charged up to learn about physics. This Colloquium originated as such an invitation from UCSC's Society of Physics Students, and will be focused for them. We thought you might like to see it as well.
